Summary
A cycleway is proposed to be constructed along the A180 and will run past Alexandra Dock Bridge. The existing parapet to the bridge would require extending in height to meet the requirements. We were commissioned to carry out a parapet extension design and parapet assessment for Alexandra Dock Bridge.
The new parapet extension is aluminium and is designed in accordance with Eurocodes.
A qualitative assessment was carried out to the existing parapet, parapet beam, and holding down system, to ensure the existing members are satisfactory.
