Summary

The four-storey high structure is a mixed-used, commercial property. The proposal is to covert the upper storeys into self-containing flats.

To maximise the space, the upper storeys are extended to the side with load bearing timber frame. A new steel frame is provided at ground floor to support the extension.

A site visit verified the form of construction and dimensions prior to carrying out structural design. Structural calculations and sketches were provided to the proposal extension and alterations and recommendations were given to replace the existing rotted timbers.
